With more than 11,000 members and approximately 200,000 interested individuals, Mehr Demokratie is likely the largest non-governmental organization for direct democracy and citizen participation worldwide. The non-profit association sees itself as both a professional association and a citizens’ movement and operates in a non-partisan manner. Mehr Demokratie has approximately 50 staff members and is represented by state chapters in all federal states. A board of trustees comprising individuals from the fields of academia, culture, and politics advises the association. Mehr Demokratie is a founding member of Democracy International and a sister organization of OMNIBUS for Direct Democracy.
